Top Democrat CANCELS The Word “Welfare”

Moore made his comments during a meeting of the House Committee on Ways and Means, which is responsible for administering various government programs, such as Medicare and Social Security.

Gwen Moore, a Democratic representative from Wisconsin, said that the term "welfare" is a pejorative and that Republicans are unfairly demonizing mothers.

"During the meeting, Moore referred to the term as a pejorative, and noted that former President Ronald Reagan used it to refer to the welfare queen, which had various names and details. She also said that the term was a dog whistle."

Committee Chairman Jason Smith, who is from Missouri, said that the committee should rename its welfare and worker support subcommittee to the work and welfare section. This committee is responsible for administering various welfare and entitlement programs.

"According to Moore, the purpose of the change is to cast doubt on the services that are provided to women, especially mothers."

"She suggested that members of the committee wear a "welfare queen" tiara to remind themselves of the committee's intentions. The focus of the subcommittee will be on demonizing women, especially mothers."
