Former President Donald Trump is not one to back down from a fight, especially when it comes to his freedom of speech. That’s why he asked a federal appeals court on Thursday to lift the gag order that has been imposed on him by Judge Tanya S. Chutkan. Now, we all know that Chutkan is an Obama appointee, so it’s no surprise that she would try to stifle Trump’s voice. But the former president’s attorneys are fighting back, arguing that the gag order is nothing more than an unconstitutional attempt to silence him.
In their brief filed with the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, Trump’s attorneys made it clear that the gag order is a direct violation of his First Amendment rights. They argue that silencing Trump’s “core political speech” is nothing short of a “heckler’s veto” and a “sweeping, viewpoint-based prior restraint.” And they’re absolutely right. Trump’s words resonate with millions of Americans, and the fact that the prosecution is trying to silence him speaks volumes about their hostility towards him.

But Trump isn’t backing down. Just days after the gag order was reimposed by Judge Chutkan, he vowed to appeal the decision. And he’s not alone in this fight. The American Civil Liberties Union has also filed a brief opposing the gag order, arguing that it violates Trump’s First Amendment rights. They point out that the Special Prosecutor and his team are public figures who willingly thrust themselves into the spotlight, and therefore should expect public criticism.
It’s clear that the gag order imposed on Trump is an unconstitutional attempt to silence his voice. But Trump is not one to be silenced. He will continue to fight for his rights and for the millions of Americans who support him.
