Former President Trump has unleashed his wit and humor on Twitter once again, this time mocking Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ early campaign launch on the stagnant social media platform. The former president posted a video clip on TruthSocial where he took a hilarious swipe at DeSantis’ technical difficulties while touting his campaign announcement with Proud To Be An American in the background. In the clip, he cut between shots of his announcement and the Twitter space that had numerous tech issues during its initial launch.
It’s no surprise that DeSantis’ campaign is off to a rocky start, with so-called “technical issues” plaguing his Twitter space and causing him to trail behind in the polls. The governor has long been traveling around the country, including to key GOP primary states, in a desperate attempt to gain momentum.
However, Trump appears to hold a significant edge over the Florida governor and the rest of the GOP field. Recent polling shows that 62% of likely GOP voters are behind Trump, while DeSantis trails in a distant second with only 17% support. This just goes to show that it doesn’t matter how many campaign stops you make, if you don’t have the support of the people, you’re doomed to fail.
But it’s not all bad news for DeSantis. He can take solace in knowing that his campaign is at least being noticed, even if it’s for all the wrong reasons. And who knows, with a little bit of luck, maybe he’ll be able to pick up some more followers on TruthSocial, the platform that Trump himself endorses as being “bigger, better, and stronger.”

In the end, Governor DeSantis may have to accept that his 2024 campaign just isn’t the “big red button” that he thought it was, especially when compared to Trump’s successful campaign, which led him to win the presidency in 2016. But hey, at least DeSantis tried, right?
