White House Digs Up Bush-Era Law for Shocking Student Debt Scheme

The Supreme Court just can’t seem to get enough of ruling against President Biden’s plans. First, they said his student loan forgiveness plan was unconstitutional, and now he’s back with another one. This time, he’s using a law from George W. Bush’s era to justify his actions. Talk about reaching into the past for some backup!

According to Newsweek, Biden’s new plan involves wiping out $39 billion of debt for around 804,000 borrowers who are enrolled in the Income-Driven Repayment program. But hold on a minute, not everyone is getting the same amount of relief. It all depends on how much you’re making and how long you’ve been making payments. What happened to treating everyone equally? Oh right, that’s not a thing anymore.

In true Biden fashion, he couldn’t resist taking a swipe at the Supreme Court in his announcement. He claimed that they made the wrong decision and that he’s authorized to move forward with his plan because of some law from 2007. Nice try, Biden. Just because a law exists doesn’t mean you can do whatever you want. But hey, why let the Constitution get in the way of a good headline?

Unsurprisingly, Biden’s plan was met with a lot of criticism, especially from hard-working taxpayers who have already paid off their student loans. Michigan Republican Rep. Lisa McClain was quick to call out the President’s scheme as a “slap in the face” to those who have fulfilled their obligations. You tell ’em, Lisa! And she’s not alone. North Carolina Republican Rep. Virginia Foxx also accused Biden of trying to “circumvent the Supreme Court.” It seems like he just can’t take no for an answer.

It’s clear that Biden’s new student debt plan is just another example of his disregard for the rule of law and his desperation for positive press. But don’t worry, conservatives like Lisa McClain and Virginia Foxx are ready to fight back. They won’t stand for this blatant overreach. It’s time for Biden to learn that he can’t just do whatever he wants, no matter how much he wants to. We’re watching, Mr. President.
