In a recent event, it was observed that President Old Joe Biden, who claims to be a Roman Catholic, made the sign of the cross at an abortion rally. This action surprised many, as typically, making the sign of the cross is associated with prayer and seeking God’s guidance and blessings. However, in this case, it seemed more like a political move rather than a genuine expression of faith.

At the rally, Florida politician Nikki Fried criticized Gov. Ron DeSantis for signing a strict abortion law. As Fried expressed her discontent, Biden made the sign of the cross, seemingly in support of her stance. This display of religious gesture in favor of abortion left many people, including members of the Catholic community, feeling offended and betrayed.
Brian Burch, the president of CatholicVote, condemned Biden’s use of the Sign of the Cross to endorse abortion, calling it a disrespectful act towards Christians, especially Catholics. Burch emphasized that the Sign of the Cross holds sacred significance for believers, and twisting it to promote abortion extremism was unacceptable and offensive.
Bishop Robert Gruss of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Saginaw, Mich., shared his disappointment towards Biden’s action, implying that the President lacked understanding of the Catholic faith. This sentiment reflects a growing concern among many conservative individuals who feel that Biden’s public displays of religious gestures are insincere and politically motivated.
