A prominent Democratic strategist is freaking out over what he thinks President Joe Biden and the Democratic Party are gonna use to bash former President Donald Trump in the likely 2024 showdown. Ruy Teixeira believes Biden’s 2024 strategy is a big fat rerun of the Democrats’ sad playbook from last time they got stomped by Trump.
“Do you remember what Hillary Clinton spit out?” Teixeira snarked in an interview on the Playbook Deep Dive podcast. “It was all about how bad Donald Trump was, what a bad person he was, how sexist he was, how racist he was.” In other words, it was all about dissing the Donald, and we all know how that ended.
Teixeira dropped some truth bombs, pointing out that Trump was yakking about some stuff, any stuff, while Hillary was just yammering on about “Bad Orange Man.” Sure, you might not have been a fan of how Trump talked about the stuff, and he wasn’t all that specific, but at least he was yapping about issues.

Despite some Biden-friendly folks bragging about the wins in the 2022 midterm elections and the 2023 statewide off-year elections by tying candidates to the MAGA slogan, Teixeira isn’t buying it. He’s all like, “Nuh-uh, been there, done that.” He warned that the only time that trick worked was in 2020, and we all know how Hillary’s run turned out.
Instead of throwing shade at Trump and the “cultural radicalism” of the Democratic Party, Teixeira thinks Biden needs to cozy up to those voters in the middle who are feeling fed up with Trump’s right-wing crew. He pointed to Alaska, where they’re giving out more oil and gas permits than any other administration, but Biden’s keeping mum about it to avoid getting side-eyed by the woke mob. Teixeira also called out Biden for missing a chance to boast about his southern border moves. But instead of bragging about cracking down on the border, Biden’s team is acting all shy about it, blaming other folks for making them do it.
In short, Teixeira’s advice to Biden is to wise up, ditch the Trump hate, and start chumming it up with the folks in the middle before it’s too late.
