In a recent interview on ABC’s “This Week,” Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen seemed to be out of touch with the struggles everyday Americans are facing under the Biden administration. Yellen downplayed the impact of inflation, attributing it to the pandemic rather than the excessive spending by the administration on bills like the “Inflation Reduction Act” and the $1 trillion infrastructure bill. This is a classic example of liberal elites being disconnected from the reality of working-class families.
It’s concerning that Yellen seems to think Americans are better off, despite the skyrocketing prices of everyday goods. Inflation has hit hard, with the price of eggs up 84 percent, ground beef up 30 percent, and bread up 27 percent since President Biden took office. These are not just “feelings” of affordability issues; they are harsh realities for American families trying to make ends meet.

Even when confronted with these statistics, Yellen tried to spin the narrative by mentioning that wages have also increased. However, the overall increase in prices far outweighs any slight wage bumps, leaving many Americans struggling financially. It’s clear that the Biden administration is failing to address the economic hardships facing the country.
Despite attempts to paint a rosy picture of the economy, polls consistently show that Americans are not satisfied with the current administration’s handling of economic issues. Yellen’s dismissive attitude towards the struggles of working-class families only further highlights the growing disconnect between the elites in Washington, D.C., and the rest of the country.
It’s time for the Biden administration to wake up to the harsh realities facing everyday Americans and take meaningful action to address the economic challenges plaguing the nation. The continued denial of the administration’s failures will only lead to further discontent among the American people.
