In a recent speech discussing a Supreme Court decision on affirmative action, President Joe Biden showed just how hypocritical he can be. Looking frail and sounding feeble, Biden criticized the Court’s decision to strike down race-based admissions at Harvard and the University of North Carolina, claiming it violated the equal protection clause. But what Biden fails to acknowledge is the hypocrisy in his own family, particularly when it comes to favoritism and unqualified individuals.
Biden touted that affirmative action is often misunderstood, stating that it does not allow unqualified students to be admitted ahead of qualified ones. Yet, he conveniently ignores the glaring examples of legacy admissions and influence admissions, including the case of his own son, Hunter Biden. While other qualified candidates are rejected and forced to abide by the rules, Hunter Biden was granted a commission into the United States Naval Reserve, despite being well past the age ceiling and having no qualifications to serve. It’s clear that Biden’s own son benefited from his family name and connections, while truly qualified individuals were left behind.
Furthermore, Biden’s claim that colleges only consider race after students have met the school’s qualifications is a farce. The reality is that colleges prioritize racial diversity in their admissions process, often leading to more qualified applicants being overlooked in favor of less qualified individuals solely based on their race. This undermines the idea of equal opportunity and goes against the principles on which our nation was founded.
Biden’s speech also highlighted his lack of understanding of the founding documents. He claimed that equality means providing opportunity for everyone, but the Declaration of Independence makes no mention of the qualified applicants receiving the best opportunities. Biden and his cabinet, who serve as prime examples of the wealthy and well-connected, are living proof that the current system does not work for everyone. Rather than pushing for a one-size-fits-all approach to education, Biden should focus on creating a system that allows for true freedom and equal opportunity for all.

In the end, Biden’s speech on affirmative action only exposed his own hypocrisy and lack of understanding. While he claims to champion diversity and equal opportunity, his actions and policies contradict these ideals. It’s clear that Biden is more interested in promoting his own agenda than in truly supporting fairness and equal access to education. Hypocrisy has become a defining characteristic of this administration, and it’s time for the American people to see through the smoke and mirrors.
