Andrew McCabe, the former Deputy Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), is at it again, calling for stricter gun control laws after the mass shooting in Louisville, Kentucky. In a recent interview with CNN host Sara Sidner, McCabe demanded that America “address” the availability of “high-powered military weapons” for purchase by civilians.

While the shooting in Louisville is a tragedy, it is important to note that the type of rifle used has not been specified by local police. However, despite the lack of information, McCabe has already jumped to conclusions and is pushing his anti-gun agenda.
In the interview, McCabe made it clear that he believes the easy access to firearms is what links all of America’s problems with gun violence. He is calling for a ban on “incredibly lethal weapons” that are readily available to every American.
It is important to remember that the United States military’s primary rifle, the M4A1 carbine, is a fully-automatic rifle and is strictly regulated by the government. Most AR-15 style rifles, which are often labeled as “high-powered military weapons,” are actually semi-automatic and are used legally by millions of law-abiding Americans for hunting, self-defense, and sporting purposes.
It is clear that McCabe is not interested in the facts but instead is pushing for a complete disarmament of American citizens. He conveniently ignores the Second Amendment and the right of every American to keep and bear arms, which is a cornerstone of our Constitution.
It is also important to note that McCabe was fired from the FBI in 2018 after an inspector general’s report accused him of lying about leaks to the media. While his firing was reversed, it is clear that McCabe’s credibility is in question.
In conclusion, it is political hacks like McCabe who are quick to politicize tragedies and who will stop at nothing to disarm law-abiding American citizens. It is up to responsible gun owners and defenders of the Second Amendment to stand up against these attacks and to defend our God-given, constitutional right to keep and bear arms.
