In an interview with Fox News, George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley discussed the recent developments in the Hunter Biden plea deal saga, and boy, did he raise some serious concerns for the White House. It seems like Judge Maryellen Noreika hit the nail on the head with her question about whether the agreement protected Hunter Biden from future prosecution under other laws. Talk about a curveball!

According to a report by Axios, the hearing got so intense that there were not one, but two recesses. And during one of those breaks, Judge Noreika dropped a bombshell by questioning whether this deal could shield Hunter Biden from potential prosecution under the Foreign Agent Registration Act (FARA), among other laws. Yikes! That’s the kind of thing the White House definitely doesn’t want to hear.

But it gets even juicier. The Justice Department prosecutor, Leo Wise, mentioned during the hearing that there is an “ongoing investigation” related to Hunter Biden. However, when pressed for more information, Wise said that he couldn’t say. Talk about leaving us hanging! You can almost feel the tension in the air.
Professor Turley added some more spice to the mix, saying that this whole situation is like a poorly planned wedding where both the bride and groom are having second thoughts. He pointed out that the Department of Justice wanted to close the case and cap the investigation, but they didn’t want to admit that it was over. Meanwhile, Hunter Biden’s legal team had been under the impression that this plea agreement would close out the case and nothing else would be investigated. Oops, looks like someone didn’t get the memo!
Turley also highlighted the elephant in the room, or rather, the White House’s worst nightmare. The judge’s question about Hunter Biden potentially being a foreign agent hit a nerve. If he was indeed a foreign agent, who was he working for? The answer is pretty obvious – the President. This opens up a whole can of worms, including investigations into his tax accounts and potential influence peddling. It’s safe to say that this plea deal is teetering on the edge of collapse, and everyone in Washington is in complete shock. I mean, I could hardly believe it myself when I was chatting with members on the Hill. What a crazy turn of events!
So, now the big question is, what happens next? It’s like we’re all stuck at that awkward point in a wedding where the bride and groom are having second thoughts, and we’re all left wondering, “Wait, how did we get here and where do we go from here?” I can only imagine the chaos that must be ensuing behind closed doors right now.
